Welcome to throb.

throb is the brainchild of photographer Tim Gerdes and creative director Shawn Red.

At throb we celebrate the arts, culture, and fashion, showcasing vibrant works from artists who always push the boundaries of what’s possible. We’re passionate about creators who bring their own intensity, enthusiasm, and vitality to their craft, whether it’s through bold fashion designs, emotive photography, or provocative, boundary-pushing work.

throb will showcase a wide range of art that explores the intersection of sexuality, beauty, and culture. We’re committed to highlighting the voices of artists who have been censored or marginalized for their work.

We have some foundational values that guide everything we do at throb, starting with kindness, diversity, social justice, and freedom of expression.

Kindness is essential to our mission. We don’t shy away from work that makes us uncomfortable, but we believe there’s already too much cynicism in the world. While sadness and anger can drive good art, and we don’t want to project an artificial sense of social harmony, we do aim to treat everyone with kindness and dignity.

Diversity is at the heart of everything we do. Our mission is to showcase the creative vision and diverse perspectives of artists and creators from all backgrounds, and to challenge white, heteronormative standards of beauty. We believe that by embracing diverse perspectives and challenging dominant beauty standards, we can create a more inclusive and equitable society.

Social justice is embedded in our DNA. We’re committed to using our platform to support social justice causes and amplify the voices of those who are often marginalized and underrepresented in mainstream media. We believe that art, photography, culture, and fashion can be powerful tools for social change, and we’re dedicated to using these mediums to challenge systemic injustices and promote equality and inclusivity. That means we’re willing to have difficult conversations and confront uncomfortable truths like racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and ableism.

Finally, we are champions for freedom of expression. We celebrate the beauty and power of human sexuality and believe that artists should have an outlet to explore and express all aspects of the human experience, including eroticism. By promoting body positivity and celebrating diversity in all its forms, we aim to create a more healthy and accepting attitude towards bodies of all colors, shapes, and sizes. We know that nudity and eroticism in art can be controversial and may challenge some readers’ comfort zones, but we believe in fostering an open and honest dialogue and providing a safe and inclusive space for artists and readers to explore them.

To sum it up, we aim to create a community of artists, creatives, and readers who are passionate about pushing boundaries, embracing diversity, and making a positive impact on the world.

If you’re looking for a space to celebrate and explore the arts and culture with like-minded individuals, throb is the place to be! Whether you’re an artist, creator, or just a passionate supporter, we invite you to join us and contribute your unique perspective and energy to our community. Let’s create something amazing together!
